Ally Comes to Cumbria

|

Ally Comes to Cumbria is a specially commissioned piece of Forum Theatre for primary and secondary schools in Cumbria.

It tells the story of Ally who arrives from Manchester to start at a new school in Cumbria.  Ally is black and faces different reactions from the pupils and teachers at her new school.  A workshop following the performance gives pupils the opportunity to practically explore how the characters could have acted differently.

Just Passing

|

Just Passing is a specially commissioned piece of fourm theatre for secondary schools though it can be used with Years 5 & 6 in primary schools, provided teachers do sufficient preparatory and follow-up work.

It was commissioned in 2005 in response to the Cumbrian Attitudes Survey which revealed that people in Cumbria admitted to being most prejudiced towards refugees, asylum-seekers, Gypsies and Travellers.

It explores the prejudice experienced by Nadine, who is an asylum seeker from Zimbabwe and Francis, who is a Gypsy and school dinner lady.  They both face hostility from Cumbrian school pupils and the community.
